WebThis treaty is a recognition of the Tsawwassen First Nation's aboriginal rights and title. This agreement will allow the Tsawwassen First Nation to become an independent and self-reliant community. It defines the Tsawwassen First Nation's rights to resources such as land and fish, and includes self-government provisions. WebThe Agreement places the responsibility of constructing and maintaining preventative flooding mechanisms on Tsawwassen First Nation while abiding by provincial standards under the Dike and Maintenance Act. The means of implementation and tracking mechanisms are therefore governed by the Province of British Columbia through this Act.
