WebFeb 29, 2024 · If I remember right the standard Novak dovetail is 60 degrees whereas the Taurus dovetail is either 63 or 67 degrees. This is why hand fitting is required. I need to get a set for my 1911 and my wife's 1911. I can do the hand fitting but I would rather support my LGS as it's one of the few that actually endorse Taurus firearms. WebJun 21, 2011 · Since there are plenty of 1911 sight cut's out there, here's the different dimensions that i have come across. Novak is pretty much the standard cut for 1911 sights. Front: 65° x 330" x .075" (have also seen .060" and .070") Rear: 65° x .500" Springfield used to use the standard Novak rear cut, but it's changed since after ~2002 to a smaller cut.

One of the most common manufacturers to do this is Taurus. Ruger also uses smaller Novak rear sights on their fixed sight revolvers.
